Spin Magazine's CD of the Year
I wasn't that into this CD when it came out, I mean of course the song "My Girls" was an instant classic but the rest of the CD didn't hit me until I researched it a bit and read the lyrics. The explosion of melodies on the opening track, "In The Flowers" had my feet moving as I was doing laundry. The feelings I felt as I read the lyrics to "Summertime Clothes" had me packing my bags ready to move to New York so I could experience the bliss Avey Tare was referring to. Finishing the CD off with "Brothersport" makes me reminisce on the amazing mood I was just in while listening to the CD and more times then not, has me restarting the CD. After all of that set in, I was frothing at the mouth to see them live (which was already on my list of things to do before I die). I can remember exactly what I was doing when I found out this CD was coming out as well as the extreme sadness I felt when I realized that they were playing back-to-back shows in Hollywood that were already sold out, with tickets going for $90+ a ticket on Craigslist. Luckily my dream came true and on May 29th, 2009 I got to witness my favorite band in their flesh. Some people love them(especially me), some people hate them, either way it's amazing music and this CD leaves you craving more.

Marquis Was On A Boat
This is from Thrashers article when Emerica went to Paris a few months ago.
"Back on the boat, the close quarters led to some funny episodes, like the night Spanky and I bumped into each other at 4 am, both trying to get Marquise to stop snoring. It’s usually me sawing logs the loudest on these trips, but positioned between Minor, Jet, and Marquise, Spanky was in a Bermuda’s Triangle of sleep apnea. When I first heard the noise, I thought maybe something was rubbing up against the outside of the boat. As I walked out to the living room to see Marquise sprawled on his back, I saw Spanky was also up. For a second we stood over him together and looked at each other, each waiting for the other guy to fix it. Finally Spanky made a move, rolling Marquise over slightly so that the high-pitched wheeze turned into a low grumble. Some nights on the boat were so loud it seemed like everyone was snoring simultaneously, like one giant snore symphony. All except Spanky, that is. His epiglottis is just too goddamn handsome to vibrate in such a coarse manner. "
And just to keep with the theme of the month...

i miss marquis
Months ago after i returned from tehachapi for a weekend, i came back with some new songs that i heard from a friend. This Soulja Boy remix was one of them and no lie, every time i put it on marquis couldn't help but dance. The play count on my computer alone is at 63 and i can only imagine how many times we listened to it while driving. My old roommate and i even conducted an experiment to see if marquis would dance while sleeping. I wouldn't go as far as saying he was dancing, but both times i tried said experiment, he started moving around in his sleep for approximately 10 to 15 seconds. I don't know why i decided to share that, but i think the song goes rather well with his swag on his big-spin.

the nard curse is alive and strong
Last night was wild, and I don't even remember most of it. Hellz and I polished off a bottle of wild turkey in the parking lot and then I downed a can of purple Joose with Donny before The Warriors started, 3-4 hours later I realized we were on our way home. I was sitting shotty in Ryan's car and we were about to drop off Andy. Here are some sick pics of In Control and The Warriors, so bummed I blacked out before seeing one of my favorite bands playing one last show. I also chipped my tooth and lost my wallet...can you find Morgan?

Awesome fact about the CIA
-In the late 40s, CIA agents in the Philippines drained all the blood from the body of guerilla soldiers, stabbed little teeth-shaped wounds into their necks, and left them in the trails to the local watering hole so that illiterate villagers would think there was a vampire was preying on the area’s commies and refuse to help them. And it worked. They also flew around in helicopters on cloudy nights and claimed to be the voice of God over the loudspeaker, which is totally awesome if you imagine Boon and Otter in the cabin trying not to crack up and “Louie, Louie” going in the background.

coming to dvd in january...
Plot: In 1936, the Wollners - a German family living in rural Town Creek, Maryland - are contacted by the Third Reich to host a visiting scholar, Professor Ricard Wirth. In need of money, they accept Wirth into their home. Wirth's grand occult project seals the Wollners off from the rest of the world and makes them players in a horrifying game of survival.
Now, in 2007, Evan Marshall's life has stalled at twenty-five years old. Left without answers after his older brother Victor's disappearance from a camping trip near Town Creek, he has tried to move on. But when Victor returns one night, very much alive and having escaped his captors, Evan asks no questions - at his brother's request, he loads their rifles, packs up their boat and follows him back to Town Creek on a mission of revenge that will test them in every possible way.
